(A wizard, however, can always benefit from the flexibility allowed by the runestaff. In fact, if a sorcerer knows all of the spells in a particular runestaff, it is of no real value to him whatsoever. It is more like a limited-uses-per-day "add these spells to your spells known list" sort of item. Instead, it allows you to spend your spell slots (and potentially XP and material components) to cast a spell you might not otherwise know. It doesn't let you cast any more spells per day than you otherwise could, nor does the runestaff cast the spells. The thing to keep in mind, to me at least, is that a runestaff isn't like a normal staff.   • A "plus" sign indicates that an item is close to the next highest condition. A runestaff appears essentially identical to a normal staff of the same name, though it always bears arcane runes (large and bold on some staffs, faint on others) that reveal its name and the spells it holds to anyone who uses read magic or succeeds on a DC 20 Spellcraft check.
  • When only one condition is listed, then the box and contents are in the same condition.
  • Boxed items are listed as "code/code" where the first code represents the box, and the second code describes the contents.
